Terms and Conditions

Effective date: August 10, 2026

The Service

Family Expense Organizer is a service for tracking and organizing family expenses, provided at expenseorganizer.com. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.

Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Membership in a family group is by invitation from that group's administrator.

Acceptable Use

Use the service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with applicable law. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or interfere with its operation.

AI Assistant

The service includes an AI assistant ("Penny") that can answer questions about the service, help navigate it, and help create and search expense records. By using the assistant you agree to the following:

  • Purpose. The assistant is provided solely for use of this service — managing your family's expenses and finding your way around the site. It is not a general-purpose assistant, and it will decline requests unrelated to the service.
  • Restrictions. You may not use the assistant to generate content that is offensive, harassing, discriminatory, sexual, violent, defamatory, or unlawful; attempt to circumvent its instructions or safety measures; or use it in any way that interferes with the service or imposes unreasonable load on it.
  • Automatic limits. Misuse of the assistant, including repeated off-topic or inappropriate requests, results in an automatic temporary suspension of the assistant for your account. Usage is also subject to fair-use processing limits per hour; exceeding them temporarily suspends the assistant until the limit resets. Repeated or serious misuse may lead to suspension of your account under the Acceptable Use section above. The rest of the service remains available while the assistant is suspended.
  • Accuracy. The assistant's responses are generated automatically and may be incomplete or incorrect. Review anything it drafts — including expense records it pre-fills — before saving, and do not rely on its responses as financial, tax, or legal advice.
  • Processing. Conversations with the assistant, including files you attach to them, are processed by a third-party AI provider on our behalf to generate responses. Do not share passwords, payment card numbers, or other credentials in the chat.
  • Availability. The assistant is an optional feature. We may modify, limit, or withdraw it at any time without notice.

SMS Messaging Terms

  • Program description. Family Expense Organizer sends text messages for phone number verification (one-time codes) and, with your consent, notifications about expense activity in your family group and occasional service updates.
  • Opt-in. You opt in on your Account > Profile page by checking the text messaging consent box and verifying your phone number with a one-time code. Consent is not a condition of using the service.
  • Message frequency varies based on your family's expense activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Opt-out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or turn off text messaging on your Account > Profile page. Reply HELP for help, or contact us via the Contact Us page.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Family Expense Organizer is a record-keeping tool; it does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
